San Francisco Series: Part 3 – Dream State EDM Concert Day 1 and Day 2

Dream State EDM Concert – Day 1: The energy was electric from the moment we walked in.

The show started around 5pm, we showed up around 7pm. We didn’t know the first few DJs so we wanted to just see the ones we knew. It would have been great to be there early and see everyone, but have you been to an EDM concert? It’s mostly standing and I’m not willing to sacrifice my feet that way. They had seating, which we did utilize on the second day, but we didn’t know that on the first day. I mean, we knew there were second level seatings, but I think you had to pay for them. However, it turns out, there were some side seatings available.

Cosmic Gate brought the astronauts and we were completely here for it. The sci-fi lover in me absolutely lost it at this.

And then the laser hit. It was breathtaking. I now know why they call it Dream State. You’re totally taken out of reality into this dream world. This show was very futuristic, so it felt like we were a group of humans at a party somewhere on a different planet.

Dream State EDM Concert – Day 2: We returned for more. It was a two day event, but you actually don’t need to go to both.

We wanted to show up in time for John O’Callaghan but learned that he had missed his plane, so the team just added more songs to hold over until it was the next DJ’s turn. There were a total of 16 DJs, well, 15, excluding O’Callaghan.

The lasers on Day 2 were on another level.

The mood shifted throughout both shows. Day 2 was full of strong lasers, but there were also moments of softer, dreamer lights. Not every moment was explosive. Some were just beautiful. The quiet moments between the beats were just as stunning.

When the green lasers took over, I completely lost my mind. I mean, they were just so clean, sharp, and so dreamy.

This one made me stop breathing. I mean, just look at how it fans out. The photo doesn’t do it any justice.

What I also enjoyed was watching the lasers hit the panels. The precision of it all was stunning. The engineering behind this show was just as impressive as the music.

My friend and I didn’t bring enough water on our first night so we bought this $17 Ape Water. It was the most expensive water I’ve ever had.

Also, in the photo, there’s a pair of diffraction glasses. A kind stranger handed my friend and I each a pair when we walked in. We had no idea why we needed them, but when I put mine on, I was shocked at what it did to the lights and lasers. It turned everything into a kaleidoscope of colors. It was definitely an experience.

Here’s a view of the difference with and without the diffraction glasses:

Two nights of this EDM concert was a dream come true.
