My second daughter graduated from high school this past May. It was hard to think about it because I didn’t expect this time to come so soon.
When my first daughter graduated in 2020, it was during COVID, so only a limited amount of guests could attend. With this one, it was packed. The graduation class was also much bigger at around 700 students.
Daughter is attending the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado, which is a 40 minute drive on the freeway (on a good day). Winters and rush hours can take an hour or longer. It’s slightly too far to drive to and from, so she is required to live on campus in a dorm. She still comes home once or twice a month. She loves my homemade cooking and the quietness. She also loves living on campus.
Husband and I are officially empty-nesters and we’re still getting used to it.

Listening to:
“Where Do We Go From Here,” by Gareth Emery
“It’s getting dark and we’ve reached the end
We’ve come a long way together, you and me
But I’m lookin’ at all the colors in the sky
As the sun is setting over the horizon
And I’m feeling like
This is the end of an era
The end of an old era, and the beginning of a new one”
