I could always do more gouache painting. I don’t think I’ve painted with gouache at all this year. The last paintings I did were from last winter. I’ve been painting (barely) in watercolors and acrylic this year, but I do miss gouache. I just haven’t had any time to pull out my gouache. My daughter bought me a huge set with (I think) 50 colors and some new brushes for Christmas and I haven’t opened either.
This year went by so fast with family stuff and vacations that there just wasn’t any time to really paint well. I’ll talk more about what kept me so busy later, but for now, I’ll just share the last two gouache paintings I did.
This was a painting I made for my daughter for her graduation last December. She graduated from Colorado University with a Biochem degree. She’s currently taking classes for, possibly, a master’s degree. She’s also a teacher’s assistant for two sections at the university and works part-time at a hospital as a pharmacy tech. Her boyfriend of 5+ years is currently in his second year of medical school, so I think she’s taking it slow with her own career because she doesn’t know where they’ll end up once he starts residency.
This painting was made as a birthday card for my husband. He enjoys snowboarding so I thought it would be fun to paint a little scene of him looking at a mountain.
Here’s the process video of that painting.
