This story follows a few people to give an overall feel of the world the plot takes place in. The idea of the story is that people are separated by their intelligence. The very intelligent live away from Analogues, who are people living in the slums. These intelligent people have privileges; however, they still have to work hard to keep up their image. They are judged by social media and a mistake, or a bad move, can have them sent to the slums.

I thought the idea was great. I liked how intelligence was the source of the separation instead of looks or strength, as in most other dystopian books I’ve read. What I found difficult to follow were the stories. There were multiple characters with their own stories, but they felt incomplete. The characters were not relatable or understandable. At first, I thought the setting was in the future, but the technology wasn’t clearly thought out so at times it felt like it was set in the current world we live in. It was pretty confusing.

Who should read this book: Speculative sci-fi and dystopian readers will enjoy this.
