This book was recommended to me by a friend a while ago and I just finally got to it. I’ve read another book by this author called Dear Edward, and I thought that story was just okay. This story is also just okay. It’s about the Padavano family and a friend. The Padavano family has four daughters, and one of them falls in love with a man from the university she attends. The man becomes a friend of the Padvano’s, and everything goes well until after he marries the daughter. He has a past that he doesn’t want to discuss or think about. His new family welcomes him, and that was all he thought he needed. After he marries the Padavano’s daughter, things began to go downhill, leaving him feeling suicidal. Eventually, things improve, but the relationships between the Padvano sisters, their parents, and the ex-husband becomes strained. The story ends on a bittersweet note.

I enjoyed the idea of the story. However, there were too many characters with very little depth to them. There was a lot happening and it felt messy. I think narrowing the story down to just two main characters with secondary characters would have made this story a lot more enjoyable.

Who should read this book: I’ve heard if you enjoyed Little Women, you’ll enjoy this story. I haven’t read Little Women (it’s on my TBR), so I can’t compare the two, but as I’ve said above, I’ve read Dear Edward by the same author and her writing was just okay.
