This story follows a man by the name of Lightbender. He’s a student training with other magical beings who are capable of powerful magic. The group wanders into the forest and comes upon a city where they learn the people are being attacked and need their help. The story is set in modern time with fantasy elements.

At first, I thought this was an epic fantasy story until the city was attacked by jets from a modern-day country. I like the idea of a “super-hero” in a modern setting. I could definitely read a lot more books like this. What I enjoyed most about this book is the friendship between the students and how they were just simply good people. They restricted the use of their magic and only used it when necessary. The enemy in the story was a little vague. The focus was mainly on the city and its people. However, overall, I enjoyed it.

Who should read this book: Anyone who enjoys a fantasy story with a simple plot and pleasant characters.
