2023 Cruise

Daily writing prompt
Describe your most memorable vacation.

I have quite a lot of memorable vacations. The last vacation I went on was in 2023 on a Royal Caribbean cruise to the Bahamas. We went a couple of days early to spend time in Miami. I had wanted to tour the Vizcaya Museum and try out a restaurant or two before the cruise.

We stayed at a nice hotel called Hotel Indigo. It had a swimming pool on the floor we were on. I believe it was the 6th floor.

We went downtown to try a taco place called Talkin’ Tacos only to learn that there was one closer to our hotel. It rained hard while we were in the restaurant but only lasted about five minutes.

Driving around Miami was pretty cool. I’ve been there before, but it’s such a big city that there was just no way for us to see everything. I always enjoy seeing the highway passes and the lifted train tracks parallel to the streets.

The Vizcaya Museum was gorgeous. I learned it was where they filmed Iron Man 3. There was also a couple of small scenes in Ace Ventura where they filmed there as well.

The ship we were on was called Freedom of the Seas. It was a pretty big ship. Not one of its biggest but it was a decent size. While we were on our way out of port, it rained in the distance.

On one of the docks, we were next to a sister ship, the Independence of the Seas. These two ships are exactly the same size. They just had different amenities.

When we neared Nassau, I took this photo of the tug boat where the Nassau pilot came on.

The formal dining room on the ship. Isn’t it beautiful?

While we were on Royal Caribbean’s island, CoCoCay, it rained pretty viciously, but for only a few minutes before the sun back came up.

The strangest thing happened while we were on this island. I had gone to grab food at the food court and on my way back to my chair, a seagull grabbed the Philly Cheese sandwich from my plate. It grabbed it so fast that when I looked on my plate, it was completely gone as if I never got a sandwich. Some lady who saw what happened yelled out at me to use my hat to cover the rest of my food before other seagulls take whatever I had left on my plate.

My daughter looking out at sea on the deck. What I like about these cabins is that you can keep the sliding door between two or more cabins open if you have a family or a group in the next cabins.

I would love to go on another cruise again. What I enjoy most about them is that I don’t have to figure out what to eat or where to drive to, to eat. It’s all there within walking distance. I like watching the ships dock. I find it so cool how they spin the ships around. I also like the variety on and off the ship.

You can see the other cruises I’ve been on here:

Do you enjoy cruises? If you’ve gone on a cruise or multiple cruises, what did you enjoy most?
