I’d been wanting to read this book for a while. I’m glad I finally got to it. The book is written about life on Mars and about people going to Mars and living there. Some of the people who’ve arrived crossed paths and some never do. I enjoyed how it was done because you get to experience a variety of people and their thought about Mars.
The thing about this paperback copy is that it contains stories that were removed from the ebook version. I came across the discrepancy by accident. I had also borrowed the ebook from my library to read while I was also reading the paperback. I did that because at the time, my mom was in a rehab hospital for a stroke, and I was spending the nights with her and reading the ebook. While I was home, I was reading the paperback. I happened to stop at chapter titled: June 2003: Way in the Middle of the Air and realized that the ebook didn’t have that chapter. When I started reading that chapter in the paperback, I realized why.
The chapter was removed because of the language and the topic. I believe this book was banned because of it.
I’m disappointed in that chapter being removed because it was my favorite chapter. I loved the meaning behind it. It had to do with slavery, but it ended with victory including freedom for the slaves.
There were other discrepancies like name replacements and title changes. You can see in the photos with the titles that the years were changed. Not sure why that was needed. I enjoyed the book with the old years. It made more sense to me than using modern years.
Who should read this book: If you’re a big fan of sci-fi you should definitely read this book. However, I’d recommend reading an older version or a physical book, so you don’t miss anything.
