I’m Not Here For That

This morning, while my 5-year-old came out from the study after watching a Super Mario YouTube video to play Super Mario Bros. on TV, I asked her, “Can you bring me that glass cup on the coffee table (her cup, btw) so I can put it in the dishwasher?”

She replied, “I’m not here for that.”

I’m thinking, “What?  Did I hear that right?”  She used to always bring me cups and plates before she does her own thing.  She used to be my little helper.  It was her idea to want to help even when I didn’t need any.  What happened?

    1. Yes. She did. If only I had super powers to make her a baby when I want to cuddle her, a toddler when I want her to talk and play, and a grown up when I’m too tired to watch her….LOL!
