If you celebrate Mother’s Day, I hope you had a great one. I always enjoy going over my mom’s house to see my parents and siblings and to catch up on life. A lot of times, the siblings and I like to talk and debate about politics and entertainment, and at times things can get a little heated, but we’re siblings so we always forgive each other, and accept each other for what we believe. What I find funny is that each of us still call our parents, “my mom,” or “my dad,” even when we are together as if we each had our own parents.
Mother’s Day at home with my husband and kids was really sweet. My youngest made a special gift for me at school and was so good about keeping it a secret that even when I tried to pry it out of her, she wouldn’t admit it. Husband got me a very special gift: a Sony Extra Bass Bluetooth Headset. I had wanted one for a very long time, just a simple one, but he went the extra mile and got a bluetooth!
This headpset is really amazing. The sound quality is clean and crisp and the bass is really nice. I’ve been listening to Danny Rayel with the headset and the music sounds even more beautiful. Here’s a few of my favorites from Danny:
Travel With Me
I tend to listen to epic and trailer music when I’m painting in Photoshop or when I’m writing. Goals is to have a writing blog but I’m still waiting for courage to put my writing up. It will happen soon, I hope. Anyway, for about two weeks now I’ve been working on a concept environment painting I’m calling, “Turtle Land”. I’m hoping to share more of my progress on my Fairytale and Fantasy Art blog, but here’s an image of where I’m at currently.
Mother’s Day was nice. Being a mom is one of the most amazing thing in the universe. You get to bring new life into existence. Nothing can be more magical than that…except maybe finding a unicorn.
I love all the gifts I got even though it’s not really the gifts that matter but the meaning behind it. My favorite gift was from my 8-year-old. She made a card with her drawings and wrote some really sweet words:
Husband got me a perfume I’ve been eying for a year. It’s called Si and it reminds me of a few perfumes I wore when I was younger that have been discontinued.
Sister got me (plus our mom and our sister-in-law) flowers.
…and mother nature gave snow.
For Mother’s Day, I spent time with my youngest daughter and nephew. They painted birdhouses as gifts for their mom’s. My daughter said, “Mom, don’t look until I’m done painting,” and added when she saw me with the camera, “But you can take pictures.” My nephew had so much stuff to carry home that he forgot to take his birdhouse. He was really excited about giving it to his mom too!
My nephew had spent the night Saturday and all day on Mother’s Day at our house. He really loves it. One of the sweetest thing my nephew said out of the blue was, “I feel like this is my house.” I told him it was his house too but then my daughter said, “It’s not your house. It’s my house and my mom’s house.” I reassured him that when he was over, it’s his house too.
Went to my 5-year-old’s Mother’s Day Tea Party at her preschool earlier today. She was so excited when she told me about it last week, but on this day, she showed no excitement at all. It was still a 99 on her scale of 1-10 (10 being the best).
Got a card and chocolates from husband. We both are upgrading our phones to androids so that was my gift. I can’t wait to get it! Finally, a phone with a much better camera. I’ve been dying to play with Instagram.
Friday, got a wrapped gift from Kida and she begged me to open it right away (as soon as she got in the car when I picked her up from school) and beautiful flowers from my youngest sister and her boyfriend.
Saturday (It was actually on Sunday), we celebrated Mother’s Day for Mom. I made a card for her using papers and elements from the “Moment In Time” kit.
Mom also got flowers from my sister.
I couldn’t resist getting a shot of this bird from her flowers. 🙂
