Year of the Horse
Horses are so beautiful. I drew the one above yesterday in honor of the Chinese New Year. My oldest daughter was born in the year of the horse. Those who are born in the horse year are known to be energetic, intelligent, and thrifty. They are well-liked and funny. (Got that from Panda Express). 🙂
Both the girls love horses but the youngest daughter is in love with them. She plans to own her own horses and a horse stable someday. She rode her first horse when she was three and I guess that did it. She wanted horse lessons but that won’t be happening for a couple of reason.
Here are photos of horses I took awhile back. The first one was taken circa 1997 in Estes Park when my siblings and I went lodging there and rode horses. The rest were taken on a farm of husband’s co-worker four years ago.
The Rain
Last night
the rain
spoke to me
slowly, saying,
what joy
to come falling
out of the brisk cloud,
to be happy again
in a new way
on the earth!
That’s what it said
as it dropped,
smelling of iron,
and vanished
like a dream of the ocean
into the branches
and the grass below.

A New Path
Over the weekend, the family went on a walk with our puppy, Teddy. We normally walk around the block or will drive to a familiar park. That day, we decided to try a new park with a nice walking/biking path.
We stopped at the playground for a bit so the girls could use up the rest of their energy. Kylie loves the swings and had begged me to push her but I was busy taking photos so she wasn’t too happy (photo above). I did eventually push her.
We took some family shots using the timer. It took 3 takes to get a decent one.
A Cold Day At Lake Dillon
Over the weekend, the family took a drive just north of Silverthorne to Green Mountain Reservoir, but when we got there, it was not what we had expected. The reservoir was mostly dried up and iced over. It was a pretty depressing sight. We then decided to head to Lake Dillon (right next to Silverthorne) so the girls could play at the playground. It was cold but the sun peeked out long enough for us to stay warm while husband and I took photos and the girls played.
Captured husband getting a shot of the mountains with his phone. 🙂
This is what they had fun doing. Spinning on these tilted round chairs screaming and giggling.
Pudding Camera + A Hawk
This morning, while husband was drinking his coffee and looking out the kitchen window, he saw a hawk as it perched on the neighbor’s satellite dish. He yelled for the family to come look so I grabbed the camera and ran toward the kitchen.
The hawk stayed there for about 2 hours! Instead of taking Teddy out back to potty, we took her to the front. We didn’t want the hawk to take off with her, even on a leash.
Pudding Camera Review
Pudding Camera App for Android is my newest love. I’ve always liked that dreamy glowy look and this app is amazing at creating it. Below are some examples. I haven’t used all the different cameras and filters.
Let It Snow!
It will be snowing for most the day today. These photos were taken this morning and I made them black and white because I think it looks better. I’ve also posted many snow photos in the past and wanted to make these a little different.
Mentally, I’m ready for snow. Physically, I’m not. I’m still wearing flip-flops, skirts, shorts, and t-shirts. My girls don’t have winter boots and only my 4-year-old has a winter coat. I need winter boats myself. I think this laziness of not gearing up for winter is due to the many years when we didn’t get snow until March.
