Kitchen Remodeling: Before and After

It’s all done!  It’s such a relief and it’s a very beautiful kitchen now.  Not that it wasn’t before but it’s just a lot more fun to play in it.  We are not completely done though.  There are still a few things we need to add like cabinet knobs and matching outlet colors on the bill nook.

Walkway Fixed and New Bookshelf

The kids saw this little guy on the lawn earlier today.  He looked me straight in the eyes as I clicked away at him.  He posed for me like a model.  I could see him thinking, “How do I look from this angle?  How about this pose?”  When I was done, he made his way across the motor cut lawn.  Not sure what or who he was looking for.

So the walkway is done.  We hired a small business to fix our thunderstorm damaged walkway and it took them about a week to finish.  I am pleased with the work.  It’s so much better than what husband had put in.  If you want see the before photos, go here.

These photos were taken before the guys came back to power wash.  Now all husband needs to do is level each side of the walkway.  This means more dirt, more rocks, and more sweat.  We also plan to plant some bushes or flowers along the sides.

New Bookshelf

I finally replaced my old bookshelf with a new one.  Since starting Project Life earlier in the year, I’ve been buying quite a few 3 ring binders to put my photos and memorabilia and needed a place to put them.  Previously, they were taking up space on the bill nook so I am really happy to have a place to put them.

I’ll be posting pages from my Project Life at my design blog, Lee Benkers Designs, so if you would like to see how I’m coming along, or if you’d like to get inspired, head on over there.

Before and After Paint Job: The Study

Happy Leap Day!

Husband and I finally painted the study.  I love the colors we chose: a deep red for the far wall and sand for the other three walls.  After we painted the sand color, I thought it was a bit light and wanted to go darker but now I think it works perfect.  The study isn’t very big so a darker color might make the room appear smaller.

There’s more to do, but right now, here are the before and after paint job.

Backyard Finally Done!

Our backyard is finally done.  To see the before photos with similar views of the images above, go here.

Here are more before and after:

The grass does look a little funny with the two colors but it’s because they were from two different harvest. One was harvested before the other.  They are the same grass so eventually the yellowish green parts will turn green with all the watering that husband’s been doing (well, that is what we hope).

Husband just has a bit of walkway to finish + a bit of river rock up the side of the house and that’s about it for the hard labor.  We will be creating a small area for herbs and a vegetable garden.  I’m not sure if I can really grow a veggie garden but I will give it a try next spring.  We also have a couple of trees to put up and some Xeriscape plants and bushes.  I also really want some raspberry bushes on the side of our house.
