Lots of places are closed today including my girls’ dance studio. They have a spring performance coming up and I wonder how they’ll ever get the dances done with all the snow days we’ve been having. Even though it’s really beautiful outside, I am ready for the snow to be gone.
Mother’s Day was nice. Being a mom is one of the most amazing thing in the universe. You get to bring new life into existence. Nothing can be more magical than that…except maybe finding a unicorn.
I love all the gifts I got even though it’s not really the gifts that matter but the meaning behind it. My favorite gift was from my 8-year-old. She made a card with her drawings and wrote some really sweet words:
Husband got me a perfume I’ve been eying for a year. It’s called Si and it reminds me of a few perfumes I wore when I was younger that have been discontinued.
Sister got me (plus our mom and our sister-in-law) flowers.
…and mother nature gave snow.
An old frozen rusty ship matte painting. I followed the Youtube tutorial here.
For the skyline, I used this photo I took of the Miami skyline during a family cruise to the Bahamas a couple years ago.
Other photos used from a free photo stock site:
I began by making a sketch.
Then, I layered the photos.
Adjusted the colors, masked textures onto the ship, painted the snow all the way to the skyline, and painted snow on the buildings as well as on the ship.
I’ve taken photos of frosts on the pine tree before (here) but I couldn’t resist. I processed these using ACR instead of directly in Photoshop.
