A Couple of Old Stuff
Project Life Halloween 2012 Layouts
Sometimes I have to wait until the right digital kit/journal cards are released to create my layouts. A couple of months back I downloaded a Monster High kit by Lisete Scrap (at Mscraps) and Brave journal cards by Amber Shaw and Studio Flergs (at Sweet Shoppe) and began to put the layouts together. I am very behind on my PL 2012 (and 2013 and 2014…) but I’m okay with it. I’m just going to tackle them whenever I can.
Project Life 2015 Week 5
March and April Random Photos
These two months are just slipping by.
Cakes a friend made for my girls’ birthday party last month. She is super talented in the art of cake making and decorating!
Daffodils and snow in late March.
Always love it when the fog rolls in.
Daughter’s confirmation. Very proud that she accomplished this while she is still young. I waited until my wedding ceremony and I was 28. If I had known better I would have done it when I was younger.
Rainbow Colors
For the flowers, since I don’t have a variety of ephemera colors I decided to cut some digital flowers out with the Silhouette Portrait, then color them/color over them. I also don’t have a lot of stencils since I’m new to stenciling I had the Silhouette also cut the words and the triangle shapes on regular paper to use at stencils.
The triangle shapes stencil by Wilna Furstenberg, flowers by Sweet Caroline Studio, Mommyish, and Sugarplum Paperie, die cut tree branch was cut out from a digital element by Sarahh Graphics, wood veneer by Heidi Swapp, paper by Amy Tangerine, and paint is Reeves.
Photos From Good Friday
Went hiking last Friday. We got up just before sunrise and while on the road, the sun came up.
I’m in the black coat, my daughter is in the blue, and my brother’s girlfriend is in the white. It was beautiful how the clouds covered the tips of the mountains.
Husband got to carry the cross. It was a very hard hike since it was all uphill. My youngest daughter came along too but only walked a little then got into the car that was aiding us. We made it to Mother Cabrini’s shrine in about 2.5 hours. It was a 6 mile hike but in order to get to the shrine, there is maybe another 1 mile up some stairs.
Tracking, etc.

Color Harmony and Acrylic on Canvas
Really enjoyed this lesson on color harmony and on canvas. I had some canvas boards on hand. Had them for maybe 2 or 3 years for a rainy day when my daughters might want to paint. Took one apart to paint in smaller blocks (see previous post for example). Ephemera by Pink Paislee. Stencils by Tim Holtz and Momenta. Acrylic paint by Reeves.
Tints and Shades
Sorry for the bad quality of photo. There wasn’t enough light and I upped the ISO pretty high thus the graininess.
This assignment asked for stamped butterflies or similar but I don’t have a lot of stamps so I decided to create the butterflies in Photoshop and overlay with digital scrapbooking papers (which I have a ton of), then I sent it to the Silhouette to trace and cut. I used 3-D foam squares to stick the butterflies onto the paper. The project asked for Glazing Fluid Medium but I don’t have that so I used Clear Gesso which turned out very similar. My Reeves Acrylic paints are on the darker side so I had to mix in white to create the pastels. I had to let this paint dry for at least a full day before I could add the embellishments.
