Repost Day by Day – Project Life Week 3

Original date: 2.04.14

The Day by Day class is over but I’m catching up on the last couple of weeks.  I’m planning to add a couple of techniques to my pages, such as the flip page and add cloth to a journal card.  For week 3,  I added lots of journaling.  I’ve been using ohlife.com to journal and it has helped me keep track of what I do every day.  I try to say something, even if it’s as short as, “It was an ordinary day,” just so I know that nothing exciting happen.  I don’t put everything I journal into my Project Life.  Just whatever I think I want family and friends to read.

I used products from Studio Calico and My Mind’s Eye.

Repost Day by Day – Project Life Week 2 And A Freebie

Original date: 1.21.14

I’ve got three pages for week 2.  The family had a lot going on and I also wanted to devote one page just for my daughter’s dance showcase.

For the words, “Our Everyday,” (third photo up) I used the Silhouette to cut it out on paper.  You can see in the photo below how parts of the sheet I used hangs off the with space.  That’s totally okay.  I used pink paper to cut on but then realized that the pink paper wasn’t dark enough so afterward I used a dark ink stamp over the words to get the exact color I wanted.  I was surprised to find that I liked the look it gave.

It’s kind of funny but I like watching this machine cut.  It’s really cool.

My daughter loves the Divergent trilogy by Veronica Roth.  I read it first and then recommended it to her.  I think she loves it more than I do!  I made this journal card to use in my layout and thought I should share it just in case anyone is a big fan too.

Repost Day by Day – Project Life Week 1

Original date: 1.13.14

Okay, I did say that I wasn’t going to do a weekly Project Life.  I think I’m going to change my mind again because of this class I’m taking.  It’s supposed to motivate me to spend more time being creative documenting.  I’m enjoying seeing all the creative stuff the others are doing and have been inspired.

I realize that I don’t have to make it so pretty or have lots of embellishments.  That always overwhelms me…and that’s why I find digital scrapbooking or digital Project Life so much more fun. But, I’ve always loved a good challenge.  For me, that would be paper scrapping with minimal products and lots of creativity.

I actually finished my week 1 layout early last week.  I just finally had time to take a photo of it, and now, blog about it.  The family did a 2014 resolutions again.  It’s been fun reading the resolutions and comparing it to what we wrote down last year.

Repost Day by Day – Project Life First Layout of 2014

Original date: 1.02.14

Happy New Year!

The class has started at Studio Calico for Day by Day.  I was going back and forth about going digital (the book method) or doing the paper and binder method for awhile.  I had set my mind on going completely digital but then there are pretty papers I like, pens I like using, and other embellishments that I simply can’t resist, so I’m going to be doing it both ways:  Digital and paper in binder.

I still have a lot of catching up to do of 2013, but I’m really excited about starting the new year fresh with a new motivation so I went ahead and created my first 2014 layout.

I used a couple of digital elements from the Day by Day class (bottom left elements).  As you know, I’m keeping up with the simplicity theme I mentioned a few months back.  I was hoping to get more layouts in before the new year but time just wasn’t on my side.  There will be lots of catching up though.

Hope your new year is starting out fabulous!

Repost My Craft and Office Space

Original date: 12.16.13

I’ve been meaning to share my updated crafting space.  It was once so messy that I didn’t even know where to begin organizing but slowly I was able to get it done!  Let’s hope I can keep it this way for a long time.

I’m actually not completely organized yet.  There are still lots of drawers with papers and junk everywhere.  I’ve only gotten two drawers organized, as shown above, but that’s been making me so excited to continue with this project!  It’s such a great feeling to open that drawer with all my tools and be able to see exactly what I need.

Repost Project Life Week 13

Original date: 10.11.13

I am so behind on my Project Life.  I was trying to juggle too many things and just didn’t have the time to do it all.  I haven’t given up on it though.  I’ve looked at the pages I’ve made so far and I’m really enjoying seeing all those memories.  My girls love looking through them too!  And, I’ve realized that my girls are the source of my motivation.  The other night I was lying in bed thinking about all the photos I’ve taken of them and still haven’t printed them or put them in photo books.  I really need to get a move on it.

After doing 3 months of the 52 weeks method, I realized that that’s not for me.  I’m glad I hung in there for that long because I can truly say, it’s just too much work.  I also need to see when each new month starts and ends and need some type of divider for a visual.  Almost everything I do is broken down into months and years so it would only make sense to do my layouts this way.  Going forward, all my Project Life will be by months.

But, because I ended the 3rd month in the weekly method, I’m going to share what I have using that method this one last time.  Below is week 13 + March 31st…or the last full week of March and Easter Sunday.

I’ve also made other changes to my method:

1. I won’t be including information on products I use unless it’s something I’m really excited about.  You can e-mail me personally if something stands out and you want to know where I got it from.

2.  My pages will be a bit more bland.  Honestly,  I’ve always loved the photos more than any embellishments.  I love embellishments and pretty things, mind you, I just think it takes attention away from what’s most important, and that’s the photo.  I follow quite a few bloggers who use Project Life and so far I am just distracted by the colorful things.  I’m not feeling ooohs and aaaahs.  I’m not motivated as I thought I’d be by all their prettiness.  I’m drawn to the most simplest pages with just the photos being the main focal point.

3. I will be taking photos of my pages from different angles instead of straight at the page.  This is just personal preference.  I will still do some close-ups here and there.

4. I will share my monthly pages, monthly, and I will probably not share every single page.

I want to continue staying positive about this.  I enjoy the journaling and putting journaling to the photos.  That’s going to be my focus.  I also want to be able to finish a full year and be proud that I did it.  And,  I want to continue doing this for a long time.

Repost Project Life Week 10

Original date: 4.17.13

Here is week 10.  This week is sort of a continuation from last week’s mostly birthday pages.  This week was actually the girls’ real birthdays so the family decided to do something small for each of them on their birth date.
